Farewell

I wish I could say goodbye to you properly after this weird term, but once more, we´ll have to communicate via the internet. And it´s especially poignant in this case since next year I won't be teaching at the Berlanga, I´m moving to a new school closer my home. In your virtual classes in Google Classrooms or Edmodo I´ve uploaded a more private message for you, please check it out. Thank you for all the great moments we have shared together, I won´t forget them. If only I could take you all with me...

4ºA: Virtual Classroom & next LC questions

Hi all, (this entry is ONLY for my students of 4ºA):

As some of you know (I can see several students have enrolled already), finally our virtual classroom will be hosted in Edmodo. Please share the code with the rest. You´ll have to upload there your next Holes LC (by Monday 20:00 pm), don´t send it to my mail address. You can also find there already the worksheet with the Impersonal Passive structure I mention in the Work Plan (to be done on Tuesday). In this case you don´t have to send me anything, just do it. I´ll upload the answer key later.

If you have any doubts, please ask them using the Post A Comment link below the entry or Edmodo. My email address is not working well.

These are my questions for the LC (ch. 8-16). Choose TWO:

-Surprisingly, Zero asks Stanley something about Livingstone´s sneakers. What is it? What could it mean? (Chapter 9)
-What is the nickname Stanley is given ? How does he feel about that? Why?
-What does Stanley find while digging his hole?

Thank you all for your help (especially Chema!). See you here and in Edmodo! And sorry for all the inconvenience (If ony I could teach you PROPERLY).

4ºA Work Plan

Hi! Here you are your Work Plan so that you don´t get bored these strange days...

-I guess you´ll need today and tomorrow (let´s say Friday too) to finish the Passive drills pack I gave you on Tuesday.
-Let´s continue then on Monday 16: I want you to do the following exercises on unit 6D (Solutions p.68): 2, 3, 4, 5. It´s also about the Passive (advanced structures). I explained the trickiest ones on Tuesday.
-Tuesday 17: In our virtual classroom (instructions on this on another entry) I will upload another exercise on these fascinating structures for you to practise.
-Wednesday 18: You go back to Solutions and delve into unit 6E (p. 69) on Compound adjectives. Do exercises 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6.
-Thursday 19/Friday 20: Reading (Junk Food) on p. 70 and 71. ex. 2, 3, 4, 5.
-Mon. 23 to Wed.25: Start preparing your vlog. Follow the guidelines in the Literacy Booklet.
Here you are some good examples of book vlogs for your project with comments on each one. And here, five useful tips to make a good vlog. The vlog is to be ready for Thursday April 16.

You don´t have to send me anything, we´ll correct the exercises in Solutions when we return.
(But you must send me the Holes LC worksheets the days scheduled (deadline 8.00 pm) to our virtual classroom!

Remember you can ask me any doubts by using the comments link below (click on "Post a Comment").

Important: Google Classrooms (3ºA/B, 3ºC)

Hi all, (this entry is ONLY for my students of 3ºA/B and 3ºC)

Finally I have opted for Google Classrooms as the platform to exchange activities and homework. The classes have already been created, now you only need a code to enter yours (you know how it works better than me).

I am going to send some students in each group an email with the code you have to use to enroll. Please, share the code with the rest of the students in the group (through whatsapp for example). From now on, as it is far more convenient for you and me, you will send your LC worksheets to this platform and not to my email address. The students of 3ºA/B who have already sent me their LC worksheets to my mail DON´T have to send it again. The students of 3ºC only have to do this for the second LC worksheet (next Wednesday).

I´ll use the virtual classroom to upload materials and your LC worksheet marks, therefore it´s compulsory for each student in my ESO groups to enroll in their virtual classroom.

Thank you all.

Short project (B1ºA/B)

-Here you are a couple of reminders of this morning´s class:

1.The short is to be done in groups of 3/4 people max.
2. You can include a trailer, outtakes and a poster.
3. It should last no less than 5 minutes (outtakes or trailer don´t count here!).
4. The script must be written using Celtx and handed in on paper (deadlines below). It will be given back to you checked before Easter so that you can start filming over the holidays.
5. Optionally you can also add the storyboard (it´s very advisable to organize your filming). You can use Storyboard That.

-Assessment: It will account for 15% of total mark of the term (Speaking mark), that is, 1,5 points1 point of the mark will be individual and will take into account the speaking skills (fluency, correct English, etc.) of each student; the remaing 0,5 points will be given to the technical quality of the short, performances, etc (this mark will be shared by all members of the team).

-Tasks to be carried out:

1. Director: is primarily responsible for the storytelling, creative decisions and acting of the film.
2. Scriptwriter: the one/s in charge of writing the script for the actors to learn. As already mentioned, use Celtx to write it.
3. Storyboard artist. S/he must elaborate the storyboard, that is, the story in "comic" format that will be used as a model for the shooting of the scenes. You can do it online if you like (on the website mentioned above).
4. Production designer: creates the visual conception of the film and is in charge of the sets, locations, costumes, "special effects" and make up.
5. Director of photography:  S/he records the film and supervises photography.
6. Sound designer/Composer: chooses (or, why not, creates) the appropriate music and sound effects for the scenes.
7. Actorsobviously. Every member must assume a role. You all must speak at least one minute.
-As it´s also obvious, each team member must take over several tasks.

-Deadlines:

1st delivery: March 30. The script (on paper) and the list of members with their tasks and roles in the play.
2nd delivery: May 4 .That day you must present the following items:
      1.The storyboard (optional), on paper.
2.The film itself in a flashdrive to be transferred to the class computer (in a common format, please).

-Alternate speaking task (for those who don´t want to make the short): Individual presentation.
You must speak 4 minutes (min.) on ONE of the topics mentioned in this website. Follow the instructions for the previous presentation.
